The Great Horchata Incident

So, we're celebrating Cinco de Mayo, and what's a good Fiesta without some homemade horchata? I started making it yesterday. I was on my 4th batch when things went terribly wrong. I had just finished blending the rice and water. I was attempting to lift the blender off of its base. For some reason, that I still don't understand, the blade portion of the blender came unattached. In .3 seconds, I had 5 cups of water and 1 cup of rice all over the kitchen. 1 cup of rice might not seem like that much, but let me tell you something - we will be finding little pieces of rice in the kitchen for a long, long time. The water went everywhere. I used up around 10 kitchen towels trying to soak up the mess.

Anyway, our party is tonight. We are going to J&A M's house armed with a drinking cooler full of horchata, a pink unicorn pinata and pure determination to have a good time!

Little F got his 4 month shots today. Not cool. He is one mad dude.

Cinco de Mayo pictures to follow . . . . . . .
