We went to Mimi's house last night for a little pace-bar-on-the-deck action. F was happily licking his peach popsicle when he stumbled right into a hornet's nest. He started screaming. J yanked him away from the nest, but not before we saw quite a few of those little yellow buggers all over him. We rushed him inside to begin the damage control. F cried for over 2 hours. J mixed meat tenderizer and water to make a little paste and put it on the stings we could see. Apparently, the meat tenderizer reverses the stinging and makes everything feel much better. We iced the stings afterward and then got F in the tub. It wasn't until he was out of the tub that we realized he had been stung many more times than we thought. Initially, we saw 2 stings, but after the tub we counted at least 5.
When I was 14 years old I was riding my bike to my friend's house. A hornet landed on my hand and stung my left ring finger. It hurt like a bugger. So, I can only imagine how my little precious baby 2 year old was feeling with at least 5 of these little treats.
After F was taken care of, J went out there armed with wasp spray and a deadly vendetta. He killed each and every one of those nasty little buggers. That will teach 'em to mess with my family.

Snap, Crackle, POP!
awwwwww, the sweet satisfaction of a perfectly-orchestrated practical joke is a wonderful thing.
I'm always looking for some clever way to bug J. Dub gave me my latest idea.
First you get some of these little babies:
Then you very carefully place 3 or 4 under the toilet seat (the one that guys never remember to put down). You want to place them directly under the tab that rests against the actual toilet. You with me on this so far? It takes a little bit of clever maneuvering, but its well worth the time spent.
And then you wait. You wait for your poor, tired, unsuspecting husband to use the facilities. At our house, this happened around 9:00pm Saturday night. I was in bed reading a book. J got up to use the bathroom. I held my breath waiting to see if it would work. SCORE! It was like Armageddon in the bathroom. I started to laugh so hard. You see, the popping begins when you're in a really, really vulnerable position. Not much you can do but just try to wait it out and hope that you come through unscathed.
After J's heart resumed its normal beating pattern, and he realized that he was in no immediate danger, he saw the beauty of the situation. Awesome.
Family members beware: I have like 10 boxes of these things.
